A 42-year-old mechanic died after being "trapped" under an Amazon delivery van at a company distribution center in Florida earlier this week, police said.
According to a press release, officers with the Port St. Lucie Police Department and fire officials responded to the local distribution center on Tuesday just after 12 a.m.
Police learned that the mechanic, Andrew Tabannah, was working under the vehicle, which was propped up by a jack stand. The jack stand failed, and the van "partially fell" on top of him.
"Coworkers immediately placed additional jacks under the van, pulled Tabannah out from underneath, and began life-saving measures until an ambulance arrived," the press release stated.
He was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Police determined the incident appeared to be accidental and said no foul play was suspected.
Port St. Lucie is about 47 miles from West Palm Beach.

Amazon offers condolences to the contractor's family
Amazon offered condolences to the mechanic's loved ones during "this very difficult time," adding that he was a contractor, according to Business Insider.
"As is standard procedure, we'll work closely with the contractor's employer as they investigate this tragic accident and conduct an internal investigation as well," an Amazon spokesperson told the outlet.
Police said they are in contact with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
